George Boughey making no secret of Cachet's Classic claims ahead of Nell Gwyn spin

Young trainer George Boughey is one of Newmarket's emerging talents and has a Classic contender in the form of filly Cachet. A tilt at the 1000 Guineas is on the cards after a spin in the Nell Gwyn.

Up and coming Newmarket trainer George Boughey has a Classic contender on his hands in three-year-old filly Cachet and will send her to the the Lanwades Stud Nell Gwyn Stakes at HQ as a trial for the 1000 Guineas.
The Aclaim filly proved a top-level contender last term, culminating in a solid fourth place in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf at Del Mar.
Boughey has reported Cachet in fine form ahead of her reappearance in the seven furlongs Group 3 on April 12 which will act as a test of her suitability for the Qipco 1000 Guineas for which she is a general 50/1 shot.
Highclere Thoroughbred Racing's Harry Herbert said: "She's in great form, she worked very well last weekend. She'll run in the Nell Gwyn. It's always been her target race. She looks absolutely terrific and George (Boughey) couldn't be happier with her.
"We'll run her in the Nell Gwyn. She loves Newmarket, she's never run a bad race there and see how we get on and whether we progress on to the Guineas or elsewhere."
Syndicate providers Highclere also have Royal Patronage who is in the Qipco 2000 Guineas but the three-year-old may swerve Newmarket and and go for the Al Basti Equiworld Dubai Dante Stakes at York before a tilt at the Cazoo Epsom Derby.
"He's just done his first piece of easy work and was very impressive. Charlie and Mark (Johnston, trainers) are delighted with him. He's in the Guineas but he's much more likely to go for the Dante at York," said Herbert.
"He's bred to be a middle-distance, mile-and-a-quarter-plus horse. I see him more of a Derby horse than a Guineas horse. I suspect that is where we'll go. It's not cast in stone. The way we are chatting at the moment, York is a likely starting point."
Royal Patronage is available at 33/1 for both the 2000 Guineas and the Derby.
