Planet Sport's Live Race Centre has all the latest information on the first day of the Guineas meeting at Newmarket, including race cards.
Here's a quick list of Pete's trio of top picks from flat HQ at the start of the Guineas meeting
Subastar (13.50 Newmarket)
Noble Truth (14.25 Newmarket)
Able Kane (15.00 Newmarket)
Watch the video or read the text and you'll have a tasty rundown of Pete's three main picks from Newmarket.
14.25 Newmarket - Noble Truth
Pete reckons the boys in blue can leave the bookies green around the gills with Noble Truth in the Betfair King Charles II Stakes.
A distance win in the Cazoo Flying Scotsman Stakes At Doncaster was solid form and Pete reckons you can discount the poor show in the Saudi Derby.
Here a snippet of why Pete is searching for the Noble Truth in this one.
"Now was very poor in the Saudi Derby last time around, that race was just too much for this horse, only one horse in that race actually ran worse."
"But I think there's plenty in the form lines that can push you back towards Noble Truth, ran really well with a solid second at Longchamp, won here at Newmarket last Summer as well."
"This trip is perfect for this horse, yes the last couple of runs haven't been perfect but I think, to be honest, this isn't really a favourite that you can take on."
13.50 Newmarket - Subastar
Pete's not so attached to Godolphin runners that he doesn't see value elsewhere and he is opposing Charlie Appleby in the Best Odds On The Betfair Exchange Newmarket Stakes with Roger Varian's Subastar.
One of the big hitters among the Newmarket trainers, Varian isn't to be taken lightly and Subastar won on debut at HQ with a solid win, even though he ran green in patches.
This Sea The Stars colt has bundles of potential and here is a snap shot of why Pete thinks that Subastar can shine.
"I think Subastar has a fantastic chance, stepping up from a mile to a mile and two but did win on debut here at Newmarket last time around and one pretty well by a length and change."
"This is a horse I will be keeping a very strong eye on because that win was a very very impressive bow. So for me I think Subastar is the definite next best of Friday."
15.00 Newmarket - Able Kane
Able Kane has caught Pete's eye for a while and he is keeping faith with Rod Millman's charge to take the Betfair Daily Rewards Handicap.
A fairly consistent runner, the five-year-old Able Kane is a distance winner who chalked up a good victory over seven furlongs on his penultimate run at Leicester.
Here's a few of the reasons why Pete thinks this is a very able runner with David Egan aboard.
"The yard had a very good year last year, Able Kane is a very good horse. Now wasn't brilliant last time around, ran here at Newmarket over this trip, a course and distance run that was really one about blowing the rust off, hadn't run since October."
"But did win at Leicester and Doncaster last year, this horse is very good and when you consider that the favourites in this race have been running well but down at Class 4, this is a horse that has shown real quality at Class 2. I think Able Kane has got a really good chance of going on to get a first win of 2022."
