Frankie Focus: A guide to all Dettori's rides at Newmarket on Saturday, October 9

Some top Saturday action at Newmarket as the end of the flat season approaches and Planet Sport assesses Fabulous Frankie’s four rides at HQ including a strong traveller in Bedouin's Story.

We start with a colt with a name that could almost describe the irrepressible Italian himself with all the challenges the 50 year-old has overcome over the years…

1.45 Newmarket - Unconquerable

Another chip off the old O'Brien block trains Unconquerable, with the horse set out by Donnacha O'Brien, the son of the Ballydoyle giant Aidan.

A consistent type, Unconquerable finished a reasonable third behind Royal Patronage in the Group 2 Royal Lodge Stakes last time out.

He kept on over the mile, so the step up to one mile and two should suit and, of course, Dettori's involvement is a big plus meaning Unconquerable can show his strength here at decent odds.

2.20 Newmarket Dirtyoldtown

Quite the contrast from Inspiral's short price win on Friday for Frankie as this one goes off a big outsider.

Named after The Pogues folk song, the long odds about Dirtyoldtown are in part down to the fact his last win was a four runner affair at Chepstow over seven furlongs, which doesn't bring many form clues to this one mile Group 3 test at HQ.

But Dirtyold town won in Wales readily by five and a half lengths in terrible conditions and represents the up and coming George Boughey stables, so everything's not lost.

If you are to have a speculative each-way punt at a price, then Dirtyoldtown could show a few a clean pair of heels here.

2.55 Newmarket - Dhabab

Planet Sport wouldn't say this is an impossible job for the No Nay Never colt because he is trained by the Gosdens.

The two-year old has been running not too shabbily in good company but needs to step up now and produce something against horses of his calibre.

A third over seven furlongs over the Newmarket course in July was probably the best signpost to him doing anything today, leading at a key point of the race but then tailing off somewhat.

This will be a real challenge for Dettori but the horse has potential and again could run better than his odds if the Italian rides the finish like we know he can.

4.45 Newmarket: Bedouin's Story

Probably Frankie's strongest chance of the day comes in his final ride, with the Italian no doubt looking forward to a nice glass of Barolo after a couple of winners.

Bedouin's Story is sent out by multiple Group 1 winner Saeed bin Suroor, who has struggled to retain that level of late, but can send out brilliant animals still.

A 40/1 win in the 26 runner Cambridgeshire Handicap in late September puts the six year-old bang on the money for this, on the back of a course and distance, career best performance.

He'll face a strong challenge from the Gosdens' Mostahdaf but this is the perfect opportunity for bin Suroor, who provided Dettori with the superlative Derby winner Lammtarra, to show he can still cut it with the best.
