Obey The Rules (12.30 Leicester)

Sound Angela (12.40 Lingfield)

Marion’s Boy (13.15 Lingfield)

Silver Forever (14.00 Newbury)

Jetoile (14.15 Leicester)

Saturday racing gets plenty of attention but racing's big hitters don't shy away from cold Wednesdays. We go to Lingfield to start and a Roger Varian runner with all-weather form. Let's hope the angels are looking down on this one.

12.40 Lingfield - Sound Angela

Roger Varian presents impeccable Newmarket credentials but he's not afraid to school his two-year-olds on the Polytrack.

Sound Angela, a filly by Muhaarar quickend well to see off Karl Burke's Al Qareem in a Kempton maiden last month.

Sound Angela ran on well that day and the step up to a mile should squeeze some further progression.

Jefferson Smith retains the ride after the Lingfield win and there's every chance Sound Angela will have little too much.

Mark Johnston's Spy is going the right way and can tail Sound Angela in opposition.

13.15 Lingfield - Marion's Boy

Course and distance winner Marion's Boy has suddenly clicked at Lingfield after a fruitless summer over turf.

One mile, four furlongs on the Polytrack clearly suits the son of Mastercraftsman, producing two wins on the spin at Lingfield.

A seven pounds rise last time out was not enough to stop a tasty length victory over Richard Hughes' One Last Dance and he might not be done yet.

Paul and Oliver Cole's Quemonda is another course and distance winner who can cause Marion's Boy a few problems.

12.30 Leicester - Obey The Rules

Donald McCain and Brian Hughes teamed up with Obey The Rules last time, resulting in a powerful eight and a half lengths win at Sedgefield.

Before that, a length and a half defeat to Alan King's Heart Of A Lion over two miles and a furlong was no disgrace and the clip back to two miles should suit.

Solid jockey Brian Hughes keeps the ride in this bijou Leicester field and can take this Class 5 chase.

The Keighley yard are in good nick with a winner on Tuesday and their Hereford winner Ben Buie can push Obey The Rules to the limit.

14.15 Leicester - Jetoile

Jetoile has a little bit of class for this level, finishing third in a nice bumper at Cheltenham and then going on to blitz the field at Chepstow by nine and a half lengths.

That debut hurdle win couldn't have been more impressive for the gelding bought from Ireland with the six-year-old winning easily in the end.

The capable Daryl Jacob gets the ride and Jetoile can star here on the way to picking up a nicer race in time.

Meanwhile, the distinctive yellow, red and purple Brocade Racing colours have been carried on such talent as Native River and their Last Quarter can do some damage.

12.50 Newbury - I Am Maximus

It's fair to say that Nicky Henderson's I Am Maximus didn't live up to expectations on his hurdling debut, running green and doing everything but winning.

Yet, the son of Derby winner Authorized is well regarded at Seven Barrows and can come on for that one.

Nico De Boinville can showcase some of I Am Maximus' fledgling potential this time around.

Mark Of Gold, another son of a Derby winner in Golden Horn, can produce a decent debut and do better than his odds suggest.

14.00 Newbury - Silver Forever

Last but not least we have listed action at Newbury and a race that can go to the living legend that is Paul Nicholls.

Silver Forever is a course and distance winner having prevailed in a match-race with Fergal O'Brien's Imperial Alcazar in early November.

While the form of that two horse race is hard to judge, you can only beat what is put in front of you and Silver Forever did so by six lengths at Newbury.

Off the same mark and with an added furlong Silver Forever can shine for Nicholls.

The hat-trick chasing Chilli Filli can provide hot competition for Silver Forever, trained by Henry Daly.
