Daily Nap January 14: Take a chance on Arcanja at Sedgefield

Planet Sport tipster Jonathan Doidge has trawled the cards for Friday, January 14 and thinks he has found one on the Sedgefield card that could still have his best days ahead of him.

13.50 Sedgefield - Arcanja

For Friday's nap we're going to take a bit of a pot shot on a horse that has yet to fulfil some potential that he showed in bumpers.
He goes at Sedgefield in the 13:50, which is division two of the Cazoo Handicap Hurdle and he's an eight-year-old called Arcanja.
Trained by Rebecca Menzies, he runs in the colours of John Wade, a former trainer himself and a man synonymous with winners at this, his local track.
Arcanja has clearly not been easy to train. He has raced on just 10 occasions and complete on only six of those.
However, he was second in a couple of All Weather bumpers on Newcastle's Tapeta surface last winter and he clearly stays pretty well. One of those runs in particular suggested that he has some ability.
He was pulled up at Wetherby on his reappearance on October, when weakening quickly. The following month he had wind surgery. If that has worked the oracle, then he looks potentially quite well treated here off a 7lb lower mark of just 77.
He has a feather racing weight of just 10st 3lbs and a first-time visor now accompanies his usual tongue-tie. On one of those occasions he was runner-up in a bumper, he sported first-time cheekpieces and a tongue-tie, so there is cause for some optimism that he can be revived. He also represents a trainer whose string are in cracking form.
So we'll take a chance of Arcanja in the 13:50 at Sedgefield on Friday.
