Daily Nap December 18: West Cork to land Ascot Saturday spoils

Saturday's Betfair Exchange Trophy is usually a serious betting heat and the 2021 renewal looks no different. Planet Sport tipster Jonathan Doidge thinks he's found the answer with West Cork.

15.35 Ascot - West Cork

I’m looking to the big card at Ascot for Saturday’s nap and my tip goes in the big race of the meeting, which is also the final race of the meeting, the Betfair Exchange Trophy (15:35)

I'm siding with West Cork in this two-mile handicap hurdle. The conditions at the Berkshire track are good to soft and this will be a real test for a field of 14 going lickety-split. Stamina will come into play and I think this will suit West Cork perfectly.
He represents a team that does so well in these big handicaps, that of Dan and Harry Skelton. He was off the track with a bit of a freak injury. He showed his credentials as a juvenile, putting some good form in the book at that level.
He returned last month at Cheltenham, when he beat Adagio on good ground. And David Pipe's runner is a very solid yardstick. As far as conditions are concerned, he won't mind either way if it dries a little or it gets a bit softer. He could still be pretty well treated from a mark BHA mark of 141 and for me the nap of the day for Saturday is West Cork.
