Roger Varian-trained Poet is the tip to put a smile on the faces of favourite-backers at Southwell on Thursday afternoon.

The son of Kodiac has been brought along steadily by trainer Roger Varian. He showed us that he can handle the Tapeta surface, recently installed at the Nottinghamshire circuit, when going close at Wolverhampton on his handicap debut back in October.
Having been gelded shortly after that run, he showed improvement to break his duck on Kempton's Polytrack last time. There looks likely to be more to come from him, he is unexposed and he looks a pretty solid favourite in this nursery contest. You've had chapter and verse from me, now it's over to Poet.
