April 3 Racing Tips: Emmpressive Lady to shine at Haydock?

Planet Sport's tipster Ross Brierley picks three hot selections from Easter Saturday's card at Haydock Park.

Looking to have a flutter over the Easter weekend? Well, look no further as our in-form tipster is back to steer you in the right direction at Haydock.

1.00 Haydock - Emmpressive Lady

Brierley says: "This mares' handicap final at Haydock looks a little bit weaker than usual and therefore the best form in the book comes from top weight, Emmpressive Lady, and this horse should be backed to take the spoils for Sue Gardner and in-form claimer, Jack Foley.

"He rode a winner last week and takes off a valuable seven pounds. This horse might not need it.

"[Her] hurdles form looks very strong indeed; she beat a horse called Lady Kk very easily three starts ago, and that horse came out at Ffos Las on Thursday and hacked up on the bridle.

"[Her] form last time out looks very good as well, through the third and the fourth, a mark of 124 looks very good - through the winner it looks fantastic!

"Molly Ollys Wishes who beat Emmpressive Lady into second has since come out and hacked up in better company, and is rated 139.

"So, a mark of 124, seven pounds off her back from Jack Foley, and a weak race, means that Sue Gardner's charge has every chance of landing the spoils."

2.05 Haydock - Xcitations

Brierley says: "A small but select field then here for this two-mile and handicap hurdle, and Shantou Express should set a good pace for Kim Bailey and [his] team, and hopefully will set it up for Pam Sly's Xcitations.

"This track should be absolutely perfect; a sharp two miles around Haydock looks to be ideal for a horse who's won at Fakenham and Huntingdon - very similar flat, fast tracks.

"In between, there was a disappointing run over at Doncaster, but clearly that wasn't its true running, and even so, the winner was an impressive and progressive horse.

"But last time out, that seven length victory with a very strong speed figure looks a stand out piece of form.

"The handicapper has had its say, 10 pounds [is] the damage here for Xcitations, and as I said, this race looks like it might well set up nicely for Pam Sly's charge, and the track should be absolutely ideal.

"So Xcitations gets the nod in the two-miler."

3.15 Haydock - Small Present

Brierley says: "Well there are in theory plenty with chances here for this stayers handicap hurdle final.

"It looks like one of the fancied runners has a huge chance in the shape of Sue Smith's Small Present.

"This horse has won his last time handicaps in gritty and determined fashion and because of that, the handicapper hasn't been able to be too harsh, despite this horse and Skanidburg pulling miles clear of the third last time out at Doncaster, and there could be a little bit more to offer.

"The previous handicap run is a good one, the novice hurdle form looks good as well.

"What I like about this horse is how much it finds for pressure. [He] travelled well into the home straight last time out at Doncaster, hung over to this near-side rail, and Skandiburg - who had been off the bridle for the vast majority of the race - threw down a very strong challenge, but he just kept on finding and finding, and finding.

"The yard are ticking along pretty nicely and Ryan Mania is riding on the crest of a wave.

"So, while there are plenty of horses at bigger prices, they look a bit more older and a little bit more exposed.

"So the younger six-year-old legs of Small Present in great form could bring up the hatrick for this valuable prize."
