Wednesday Southwell each-way racing tip: Broad Appeal can unlock potential over longer trip

After landing a 25/1 each-way place yesterday, Tipstrr’s horse racing expert has his eye on another outsider carrying each-way potential in tonight's first race at Southwell.

16:37 (Southwell) Broad Appeal

Broad Appeal is an exposed nine-year-old gelding that last won nearly three years ago at Windsor, but that lean period does not tell the full story.

Despite his lack of wins, he tends to perform fairly consistently overall, and a missed break helps explain why he did not show too well last time out when finishing eighth of eleven, around six lengths behind the winner just ten days ago.

Today he comes to Southwell for the first time round this track, and he will undoubtedly be fitter and ready for this task at a slightly longer distance of one and a half miles, a longer trip which should suit his stamina and racing style.

On paper he drops down from a mark of 62 to 60, but with new jockey booking Matthew Slater claiming a further seven pounds allowance, Broad Appeal appears to offer decent value here around 25/1, as a price of 14/1 would seem to be nearer the mark.
