Saturday Sandown top tip: Tizzard and Cobden team up to repeat success

A Tipstrr racing expert believes that Joe Tizzard's Copperhead has more to offer than the market suggests in what appears to be a competitive handicap hurdle race at Sandown.

Copperhead is an unexposed eight-year-old gelding that won at Sandown a few years back on his only prior run at the course. Maybe over time we'll see Joe Tizzard's horse attach himself to Sandown like many others like to do with their favourite course, but for now, it's only one out of one.

Today, Harry Cobden returns to take the saddle after being on board for that previous successful trip to Sandown. Obviously today's race is a more challenging race, but interestingly, the last four times that Cobden has taken the reins with this horse have all resulted in wins, except when falling when they last paired up in a tougher Class 1 race.

Copperhead's last run was over a similar trip at Ascot fifteen days ago when a different jockey was unseated, albeit when he was looking beaten and going nowhere fast when runner and rider went separate ways at the tenth obstacle.

Notably, however, his price was absolutely smashed in the betting, which suggests somebody expected a better showing from him, and maybe today is the day for that performance to come.

He is now reverting back to hurdles and the smaller obstacles should suit him better as he has undoubtedly looked more impressive in that sphere, winning two of his eight runs over hurdles, one of which was on today's course, as mentioned earlier, albeit over a shorter distance.
But this trip shouldn't be an issue for him given he's won over various trips between three miles and three miles, two furlongs. He's also two out of two on right-handed galloping tracks, so the track and its nature should hold no issues for him, while his mark of 134 appears to undervalue his ability.

Another point of interest is that Copperhead is Joe Tizzard's only runner at Sandown today, and the last three times that Tizzard has sent out a single runner to a course have resulted in a win and two places.

It appears that trainer and jockey both mean business today, and with all the other factors that could align in his favour, any price 10/1 or above appears to hold real each-way value.
