Monday Punchestown eachway racing tip: Coolnacritta looking to rekindle winning form

A Tipstrr horse racing pundit has cast his expert eye on a Mark Fahey horse that he believes carries good outsider value if he can rekindle old form at Punchestown this afternoon.

13:20 (Punchestown) Coolnacritta

Coolnacritta last won for Mark Fahey fifteen months ago at Tramore on a mark of 98, a success that came just five days after another success at Fairyhouse.

Prior to that, outings in the summer of 2021 had seen the eight-year-old gelding come runner-up at Limerick and beaten by a nose at Uttoxeter, the latter of which again came just five days after he had won by over four lengths at Hexham.

Those second places came against decent opposition, but before that a form line 0P00 highlights the fact that it's been somewhat hit or miss in terms of form with Coolnacritta, so it might just be a good time to catch him at a decent price.

Since his last win, he was penalised ten pounds and recently ran two races on a mark of 108, both of which ended in disappointment, firstly being pulled up here at Punchestown in November after that extended layoff, and then coming last of 11 runners 30 days later at Fairyhouse where he was held up and eased towards the finish.
So, despite that Hexham win after his previous long break, he may have needed those two runs, and here he comes back fitter and two pounds better off on a mark of 106, with a new jockey on board carrying an additional two-pound allowance.
Interestingly, Coolnacritta is Mark Fahey's only runner of the day, and it's well worth pointing out that his only other two runners so far in 2023 - Bambeano and Dayzee - both won at Dundalk at odds of 40/1 and 33/1 respectively, albeit on the flat with Jack Kearney on board.
If the rest of the Fahey yard is in similar shape, then that makes Coolnacritta look good each-way value at anything over 20/1, and it will be interesting to see if there's any significant support as the race approaches.
