April 28 Racing Tips: Supremacy to show his class at Ascot

A top-quality midweek card at Ascot heads up a busy day of racing at Brighton, Punchestown, Wolverhampton, Pontefract and Chelmsford on Wednesday April 28.

Need some Wednesday winners? Planet Sport's tipsters are back to give you the stick to bash the bookies with.

3.20 - Ascot

Supremacy should make his class tell in the Qipco British Champions Series Horseracinghof.com Pavilion Stakes.

Supremacy advertised his claims in a fine juvenile campaign, winning the Group Two Richmond Stakes at Goodwood before adding the Group One Middle Park to his tally on his final two-year-old start.

His top-level success means he must shoulder a penalty here and while Clive Cox is anticipating improvement for the outing, Supremacy is far superior on the ratings and should still be more than good enough, even if not fully wound up.

2.45 - Ascot

The Group Three Longines Sagaro Stakes is the headline race of these Royal Ascot trials, and Stradivarius should take the first step on the road to a potential fourth Gold Cup win at the famous fixture in June.

Now a seven-year-old, Stradivarius boasts a rating of 125 - which puts him 10lb or more ahead of each of his rivals here - and he is the undisputed king over two and a half miles at this track.

However, following his demolition of last year's Gold Cup field to bring up the hat-trick, Stradivarius had to find his way out of trouble to win a fourth Goodwood Cup, while he was found out for pace in both an Arc trial and a subsequent crack at ParisLongchamp's main event.

It is best to put a line through his final disappointing run on Champions Day, when testing ground combined with the after-effects of his French run saw him beaten a long way out, and this looks a perfect launchpad for Stradivarius' campaign.

3.55 - Ascot

Haqeeqy impressed with his Lincoln victory and can prove up to at least Listed level as he tackles the Charlie Waller Trust Paradise Stakes.

This lightly-raced four-year-old picked up in the manner of a quality performer when asked at Doncaster, shrugging off a less than clear passage to win with a fair bit seemingly in hand.

His revised mark of 107 reflects his potential - and while he has a bit to find with a few of these rivals, he is a horse on an upward curve.

Other selections at Ascot include: 1.00 Enigmatic, 1.35 The Gatekeeper, 2.10 Ready To Venture, 4.30 Saaheq.

5.55 - Punchestown

It is day two at Punchestown, where Clan Des Obeaux should relish decent ground and a flat track in the Ladbrokes Punchestown Gold Cup.

His recent victory lap at Aintree merely demonstrated his good health rather than offering any form clues, but he is a dual King George winner who has been kept pretty fresh for the spring.

Others to keep an eye on at Punchestown: 3.40 Fortune Street, 4.15 Heather Rocco, 4.50 Marajman, 5.20 Telmesomethinggirl, 6.30 Sir Gerhard, 7.00 Midnight Maestro, 7.35 Grangee.

5.00 - Pontefract

King Of Tomorrow let down his supporters on his only juvenile start, but should be given another chance in the Trustees Of The National Horseracing College/British EBF Maiden Stakes.

He did not enjoy the best of luck in running when a four-length sixth at Kempton in December, but the experience should not be lost on this gelded son of Dubawi.

Other punts at Pontefract include: 2.00 May Blossom, 2.35 Le Bayou, 3.10 Perfect Swiss, 3.50 Round The Island, 4.25 Readman, 5.00 King Of Tomorrow, 5.30 Soul Seeker.

6.20 - Brighton

Excel Power is the pick in Brighton's Kentucky Derby On Sky Sports Racing Novice Stakes, for Archie Watson.

A winner on his second all-weather spin, he appreciated the switch back to six furlongs and sticks at that sprint trip here.

Keep an eye on these tips at Brighton: 4.45 Aish, 5.15 Pure Charmer, 5.45 Gherkin, 6.50 Always Dreaming, 7.25 Alezan, 7.55 Woggle.

4.05 - Wolverhampton

Seeking Perfection is on a reasonable starting mark for the Watch Free Race Replays On attheraces.com Fillies' Handicap.

Other selections at Wolverhampton include: 1.15 Frame Rate, 1.50 Lion Hunter, 2.25 Eltham Palace, 3.00 Sim Card, 3.35 Far From A Ruby, 4.35 Time Has Wings, 5.05 Pina Collada.

5.10 - Chelmsford

Carolus Magnus can build on his recent Newmarket win in the tote Placepot Your First Bet Novice Median Auction Stakes.

Check out these tips at Chelmsford: 5.40 Last Date, 6.10 Justified, 6.40 Sir Oliver, 7.15 Act Of Magic, 7.45 Street Poet, 8.15 Rwanda Mist.
