Volvo Car Scandinavian Mixed tips: Niklas Norgaard Moller ready to shine in Sweden

The DP World Tour joins forces with the Ladies European Tour this weekend for the Scandinavian Mixed Tournament that gives golf pundit Martin Colwell even more betting options to consider.

Scandinavian Mixed key stats:

  • When: June 6 - 9 2024
  • Where: Vasatorps Golf Club, Stockholm, Sweden
  • How long: 7,295 yards (men), 6,350 yards (women) - par 72
  • What to expect: Part tree-lined parkland, part exposed landscape, tee-to-green accuracy and scrambling skills key
  • Who won last year: Dale Whitnell (-21)

The fourth edition of this unique mixed tournament sees a 156-strong field split 50/50 between male and female players, who go head-to-head, with the ladies granted around 1,000 yards distance advantage off the tee.

The 2022 edition made history when Linn Grant became to first female winner on the European Tour, with the Swedish golfer finishing nine shots clear of her nearest male rivals and 14 ahead of her closest female counterpart.

Grant tees off as the lowest-priced female contender at 25/1, but heading the pre-tournament betting is Rasmus Hojgaard, who is looking to bounce back from a disappointing first-round 80 that made him miss the cut at last week’s European Open

Homegrown hopeful Sebastian Soderberg has been a regular contender in recent times without winning, but now with the backing of local support he looks a realistic 16/1 shot.

At an even more tempting 20/1 we find the in-form Niklas Norgaard Moller, who looks the real deal and is trending towards his first win on the DP World Tour.

Last month’s Japan Open saw the Dane miss the cut for the first time this year, and his response has been impressive, backing up a runner-up spot at Belgium’s Soudal Open with another top-four finish at last week’s European Open, when his chances were scuppered by a one-over-par final round.

Norgaard Moller appears to be relishing the Tour’s European swing, and the Vasatorps course appears to be set up to suit his game and he can contend again this week.

Suggested bet: Niklas Norgaard Moller (20/1) in the Scandinavian Mixed

At 25/1 Johannes Veerman and Jesper Svensson are a couple of up and coming talents, who are working hard to win on this tour and graduate to the USPGA version, while Frenchman Romain Langasque has found some form of late on tour, and although inconsistent, he has the talent to make the 33/1 available look good each-way value.

Also hovering on the 25/1 mark is Matthew Jordan, who has form in Scandinavia and was placed ninth here last year.

He missed the cut in both Japan and China, but has shown solid form since, tying for fifth at the Soudal Open and only just missing out on another top-ten finish last week in Germany.

Suggested bet: Matthew Jordan (25/1) in the Scandinavian Mixed

Others to watch:

  • Joost Luiten (40/1) - A Tour veteran and proven winner in times gone by, the Dutchman has plenty of experience on courses like this and could well outplay his odds here.
  • Haotong Li (45/1) - Inconsistent but talented, he could well hit the ground running on day one, so possibly a contender for first-round leader
  • Todd Clements (80/1) - Two promising finishes since returning from injury, the American has the ability to make his price look huge if his improvement continues
