Betting preview: Scottie Scheffler to shine in World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba

With the World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba starting on Thursday, Planet Sport tipster Jack Kelliher has four selections.

The latest round of PGA Tour action comes to Mexico this weekend and Planet Sport tipster Jack Kelliher has four selections.

Scottie Scheffler - 30/1

Headline selection is Scottie Scheffler. Cameron Tringale and Aaron Wise are similarly priced to win the tournament, but Jack argues that Scheffler's pedigree stands out.

The American is still searching for his first PGA Tour victory, but he did manage to take down John Rahm in the singles of the Ryder Cup and this tournament is an ideal opportunity for him to break his duck.

His only other visit here saw him gain 1.7 strokes per round, so he's displayed a liking for the course.

At 30/1, he's Jack's standout selection.

Matt Fitzpatrick - 35/1

Another keen to claim his first PGA Tour victory is Matt Fitzpatrick and there are lots of reasons to fancy his chances.

He wore off the rust last time out at the Bermuda Championship and currently sits in the top 20 for Greens in Regulation, Strokes Gained Tee to Green and Fairways Hit over the last 24 rounds on tour.

Additionally, technical tracks such as Mayakoba suit the Englishman's style more than courses that call for length. At 35/1, he's Jack's second selection.

Harold Varner III - 60/1

Harold Varner III, who has registered two top 10s from five visits to El Camaleon, is a bigger price than the first two selections.

The new dad sits in the top 20 for Greens in Regulation, Strokes Gained Approach and Scrambling. There's also plenty to admire about his consistency - he's landed four top 20s in his last five events.

Jack feels there is plenty of value at 60/1.

Chris Kirk - 80/1

Final selection is Chris Kirk whose skillset looks well-suited for the test.

Over the last 24 rounds, Kirk sits sixth in SG Tee to Green and Scrambling, and he's also top 20 for Greens in Regulation and Driving Accuracy.

At a tasty 80/1 he completes this week's staking plan.
