More DP World Tour resignations from LIV golfers on the way amid 'unprecedented' fines

LIV golfers Branden Grace and Charl Schwartzel are expected to resign from the DP World Tour - while the likes of Henrik Stenson and Paul Casey could soon follow suit.

More LIV golfers are expected to resign from the DP World Tour amid reports the tour is set to impose additional fines of up to £500,000.
According to The Telegraph's James Corrigan, the DP World Tour will soon hand down the "unprecedented" fines as it continues to crack down on LIV Golf defectors after winning its court case against several current and former members.
The tour has already fined up to 17 players £100,000 each, but with fines expected to continue to pile up as long as the players remain in the breakaway league, more resignations are expected.
According to the report, Former Masters champion Charl Schwartzel and fellow South African Branden Grace are among those next to resign, while all eyes will be on the likes of Henrik Stenson, Paul Casey and Martin Kaymer to see if they follow suit.
Last week, Lee Westwood, Ian Poulter and Sergio García all quit the tour in anticipation of impending sanctions.
Garcia is believed to be the only player who is yet to pay the initial £100,000 fine for teeing it up in last June's inaugural LIV event in St Albans.
Meanwhile, LIV Golf appears to be paying the fines of some players but not others, complicating the situation. The Telegraph reports that LIV transferred £700,000 to the Tour just before last Wednesday's deadline but failed to stipulate which seven golfers out of the 17 it was paying the fines for.
Last week, Westwood said he hoped by resigning he would avoid any further fines.
"I do hope that now I've resigned they won't fine me again - I'm no longer a member," he added. "I believe I've contributed greatly to the Tour in my 30 years as a card-holder."
