Tiger Woods finishes second in his comeback alongside son Charlie at the PNC Championship

All the best social reaction after the Woods combination had an unexpected tilt at the title.

It was only a nonsense, silly-season event - even Tiger Woods himself called it hit-and-giggle - but the PNC Championship also became quality viewing late into the back nine on Sunday.

With a run of 11 consecutive birdies Woods and his son Charlie made a charge for the line that ended the golfing year on a schmaltzy high.

Ultimately it was not good enough to land the title - John Daly and son John Daly II completed a 27-under-par total for the 36 holes that left them two blows clear - but there was excitement to be had.
Woods was clearly enjoying being back on the course, 10 months after his car crash, and Charlie reeled off a series of brilliant approach shots that were remarkably reminiscent of his dad.
The excitement, some of it ludicrous, ought to be tempered by the reality that Woods winced after hitting some shots (and was limping at other times), and that Charlie is only 12-years-old.
But let's take a look at what the golfing world made of the action.
