Taylor Pendrith leads by one as The CJ Cup Byron Nelson heads into Sunday
Back-to-back eagles moved Canada's Taylor Pendrith to the top of the CJ Cup Byron Nelson leaderboard on Saturday.
Starting the day tied for fifth place, Pendrith followed a birdie on the second hole with eagles on the fifth and sixth and another birdie on the ninth to hit the turn on six under.
He picked up two more shots on the back nine to improve to 19 under par for the tournament. Pendrith leads by one stroke from American Jake Knapp, who carded a four-under 67 on Saturday in Texas.
"This is kind of a course (where) you can get on a run and make a lot of birdies," said Pendrith.
"and the guys behind me I'm sure were doing the same. Just got to keep the momentum going and try and make as many as you can.
"Been playing some nice golf the last few weeks, and it's nice to see it come together. I think just stay patient and play my own game and don't get ahead of myself. Make as many birdies as you can, because I think it'll take a low one tomorrow."
England's Matt Wallace sits in third place on 17 under after also carding a 67. A bogey on the par four 16th was the sole blemish on the day for Wallace, who closed out his round with two straight birdies to keep himself in the hunt.
