Spotlight on: Matt Fitzpatrick in the Butterfield Bermuda Championship at Port Royal
The Englishman was a brilliant winner at Valderrama on his latest start but can he taste more success when switching back to the PGA Tour this week?
On first glance, Matt Fitzpatrick seems a surprise inclusion in the field for this week's Bermuda Championship.
This week's venue, Port Royal Golf Course, is set by the sea and, not surprisingly, plenty of wind is predicted.
Will he prove up to the test? Let's look at the options for backing Fitzpatrick this week.
Fitzpatrick in the outright
Looking at his stats from Valderrama, he ranked 4th for Strokes Gained: Tee To Green and 1st SG: Around The Green.
Fitzpatrick has played five measured rounds in such conditions, shooting 71, 74, 73, 76 and 73. In none of those did he advance his leaderboard position so, although the sample size is small, he's yet to really excel when facing strong winds set against warm skies.
Fitzpatrick in the first round
Earlier in 2021 he put together a string of fast starts on the PGA Tour, his end of R1 positions reading: 2-1-7-3 (Genesis, Workday, Arnold Palmer and Players Championship).
Fitzpatrick in a 72-hole match vs Bezuidenhout
With Fitzpatrick and Christiaan Bezuidenhout the two market leaders this week, it's natural to see that they've been paired together in a 72-hole match bet.
So what do the stats say when this duo battle it out in the same event?
