PGA Tour news: Matt Wallace leads at halfway stage of Corales Puntacana Championship

England's Matt Wallace holds a one-shot lead at the halfway stage of the Corales Puntacana Championship.

Wallace added a bogey-free 66 to his opening 67 in the Dominican Republic to reach 11 under par, with Americans Sam Stevens and Wyndham Clark on 10 under.
"I hit it probably a little bit better than yesterday," Wallace said. "Didn't think that was possible but it's nice to have that in the bank now and confidence has grown."
Wallace finished seventh last week in the Valspar Championship, where he was in contention for a first PGA Tour title until a costly double bogey on the 12th on Sunday.
"I want to just keep playing the way I'm playing, doesn't matter where I am on the leaderboard," the 32-year-old Londoner added.
"I was saying to Sam (his caddie) out there, like if we're at the top of the leaderboard I want to keep pushing and playing really good golf and see where that puts me because then I know what my levels are."
Sharing fourth on 136 were Denmark's Nicolai Hojgaard and Americans Tyler Duncan, Akshay Bhatia and overnight co-leader Brice Garnett, who clinched his only previous PGA triumph in 2018 at Puntacana.
This week's PGA Tour stop offers a prime chance for a first-time winner with most of the tour's top talent doing battle at the WGC Match Play Championship in Austin, Texas.
