'The Match' returns: Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods team up for exhibition clash

Rory McIlroy will team up with Tiger Woods to take on Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas in The Match on December 10.

The seventh version of the exhibition challenge will take place at the Pelican Golf Club in Florida as Woods returns to the event he helped launch.
Woods took to Twitter to announce the event, writing: "Can't wait to play in Capital One's: The Match with @McIlroyRory against @JustinThomas34 and @JordanSpieth to raise money for Hurricane Ian relief. See you boys under the lights on December 10th.
Spieth also tweeted: "Ready to go again @JustinThomas34? @McIlroyRory @TigerWoods - see y'all next month, under the lights! Excited to compete with these guys and raise money for hurricane relief.
Woods is still recovering from injuries suffered in a car accident but will partner McIlroy, who will debut in The Match.
Spieth and Thomas are long-time friends and will also be taking part for the first time.
Phil Mickelson beat Woods in the inaugural event in 2018, with the last event taking place on June 1 when Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers were victorious against Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes in a clash of American football quarterbacks.
The Match features an alternative format and is played for charity. For the last event, the QBs teed off at each hole and teams selected their best tee shot to play, with them playing their own ball to the hole. Only the better score from each side was counted per hole.
