Eleanor Givens only one shot off the pace at Aramco Team Series Singapore after strong opening round

England’s Eleanor Givens lies just a shot back after shooting 68 in the opening round of the Aramco Team Series event in Singapore.

Givens carded a four-under par 68 at Laguna National to share second place with Christine Wolf, Klara Spilkova, Pauline Roussin and Linn Grant, with South Africa's Nicole Garcia setting the pace on five under.

"I think I probably hit three of my best shots ever today," Givens said. "I made an eagle (on 15) and then I nearly had a hole-in-one on the 17th, I was probably less than a centimetre from the hole."

Garcia carded seven birdies in her first 13 holes but bogeyed her last two, while world number one Lydia Ko battled to a level-par 72.

The quartet led by England's Liz Young shot 16 under par to hold a one-shot lead in the team event.
