DP World Tour preview and tips: Adri Arnaus set to challenge for Kenya Open glory
As the DP World Tour shifts its focus to Africa, Tipstrr golf expert Martin Colwell looks ahead to the Magical Kenya Open to try to identify which golfers represent the best betting value.
The DP World Tour is off to Africa for a few weeks, kicking off with the Magical Kenya Open at the Muthaiga Golf Club near Nairobi. The tournament returned to this course in 2022 after a five-year break from the tour, and Ashan Wu of China is the defending champion.
At first glance down the market, I like Adri Arnaus, who finished eighth here last year and has been in decent form in 2023. If he can get off to a good start he can certainly be in contention in this weakened field.
Antoine Rozner is the current favourite at a general 16/1 after coming fifth last time out after a win in December, and his current form and liking for tougher courses makes him a strong contender. He certainly looks a better prospect than the out-of-form Robert Macintyre at 18/1, and of the two I would be plumping for Rozner this week.
Defending champion Ashan Wu is also tempting at 22/1, and after winning comfortably here last year, he has to merit consideration.
I would then jump to 35/1 where we find the up and coming South African Jayden Trey Shraper, who has two top 20 finishes recently and is currently sixth for driving accuracy and ninth for greens in regulation on tour this season.
Of the outsiders Angel Hidalgo at 60/1 looks very appealing as another golfer in good solid form who prefers tougher courses as opposed to birdie shoot-outs.
And finally, the very inconsistent Justin Walters. The South African has some good form in Africa and if he can navigate the first two rounds well enough to make the cut then the current 100/1 could look very big by Sunday afternoon.
