LIV Golf player Bryson DeChambeau is hoping to earn a call-up to Team USA for the upcoming Ryder Cup.

There's only one chance for Bryson DeChambeau to force his way into Ryder Cup contention...

The PGA Tour's recent shock merger with LIV Golf bankrollers, the Public Investment Fund, has reignited hopes that America's LIV Golf wantaways would be considered for Ryder Cup duty come September.

With his US PGA Championship victory and - for what it's worth - a LIV Golf Orlando title in April, DeChambeau's LIV Golf rebel-in-arms Brooks Koepka has seemingly played his way into US captain Zach Johnson's team.
The, ahem, five-time major winner is currently third in the US Team rankings and Johnson would surely be remiss not to include the intimidating Floridian.
Now, DeChambeau, whose T20 finish at last week's US Open moved him up six places to 41st on the US Team rankings, is eager to play his way in.
"I think [the door] is open a lot more," the 2020 US Open champion told Golf Monthly.
"I hope that Johnson picks the best players from the country. That's the most important thing is playing for the country.
"I think Brooks is already qualified and I think he's already on the team. If my game continues to improve and I play well in another Major and play well in some LIV events, I hope [Johnson] considers some of those guys. It'd be nice to consider me."
If the big-hitting Californian is to force his way into Team USA, there's really only one option: an outstanding performance at The Open Championship, the finall major of the year.
With DeChambeau competing in LIV Golf events - something probably not on Johnson's television - one would imagine he'd need a head-turning result at Royal Liverpool to be up for consideration.
The 44th Ryder Cup tees off at the Marco Simone Golf and Country Club in Rome on 29 September, with Team USA looking to break a 20-year win drought on European soil.
