World Darts Championship tips: Gerwyn Price out to make a statement against Connor Scutt

Action at the World Darts Championship continues this Monday night with Gerwyn Price looking to put the entire tournament on notice.

The Welshman takes on Conor Scutt in his opening match at the tournament as he chases his second world crown.

The 2021 World Champion has been knocked out at the quarter-final stage during his last two Alexandra Palace appearances.

Price, who is currently third favourite for the title, has enjoyed a mixed year on the PDC tour.

The 38-year-old claimed one major crown in 2023 – that being the PDC World Cup of Darts with fellow Welshman Jonny Clayton. Price was also the runner-up at the World Grand Prix and in the Premier League.

Scutt is the big underdog on Monday night despite putting in a solid display in the first round.

The Englishman made easy work of Krzysztof Kciuk, winning Saturday’s match 3-0 with a 95 average and a checkout percentage of 64%.

Scutt may have few backers in the outright market, but we think he has the ability to push Price on Monday night.

With that in mind, our main recommendation is to back over 3.5 sets at 10/11. Price to hit most 180s at 4/6 is also a viable option.

Elsewhere on the card, Martin Lukeman will be determined to progress when he takes on Haupai Puha.

Despite having a slow season, the Englishman should have too much quality for his Kiwi opponent who returns to the Palace for the second time.

Lukeman to win the match, hit the most 180s and produce the highest checkout is currently well priced at 2/1.

Suggested bets

Gerwyn Price vs Connor Scutt – Over 3.5 sets (10/11)
Gerwyn Price to hit the most 180s (4/6)
Martin Lukeman to win his match, hit most 180s and highest checkout (2/1)
