Premier League Darts finals night tips and predictions: Luke Littler to triumph in repeat of world final

All roads lead to London's O2 Arena as the Premier League's top four vie for the title on Thursday night.

The Lukes, Littler and Humphries. The Michaels, Van Gerwen and Smith.

The last four players to have made it to the World Championship final will engage in tungsten tussles for the Premier League title and a huge jackpot of £275,000.

It's a line-up that will have Darts fans frothing at the mouth, with Luke Littler taking on Michael Smith and Luke Humphries clashing with seven-time winner Michael Van Gerwen for a place in the final later in the night.

Littler takes on his darting equivalent of a bogey team when he faces Smith in the night's curtain raiser.

Smith has had Littler's number in this campaign, winning five of their seven meetings and Bully Boy finished his campaign with a flourish in Sheffield, securing his place in the finals with a night win where he beat both Littler and Humphries.

There is a change in the format for the semi-finals with it being less of a sprint and more of a 400 metres, as the first to 10 will grab that precious spot in the final.

The increase in legs is something that could turn the tables in Littler's favour as more often than not his losses have been close run affairs.

Littler has undooubtedly been the best player in this year's edition of the Premier League, losing just three of his quarter-final matches in the regular season, but two of those came against Smith.

Despite Smith's advantage in the head-to-head, we think it's written in the darting stars that table-topper Littler makes it to the final.

World champion Humphries takes on play-off specialist Van Gerwen in the other semi-final.

After a rough patch in this competition, Humphries has bounced back in recent weeks with a night win at Leeds and a run to the final in Sheffield, where he was beaten by Smith.

MVG has been far from his usual self in this campaign, with the bulk of his points coming in the opening four weeks, however he has been there, done it and got the seven trophies, so he should not be underestimated.

Despite that, the Dutchman has lost to Cool Hand four times this tournament and his only win over the world number one came all the way back in night three.

MVG will be up for it, but he is far from the levels that have seen him win this competition seven times and we think that Cool Hand will be too hot to handle and will renew his rivalry with Littler in the final.

If it is indeed a battle of the Lukes once again in the final, then we can see Littler getting revenge and claiming the Premier League trophy, given that he's won six of seven meetings with his namesake since that Ally Pally showdown.

Suggested bets:

Luke Littler to beat Michael Smith

Luke Humphries to beat Michael Van Gerwen

Luke Littler to win the 2024 Premier League
