German Darts Grand Prix tips and predictions: Luke Humphries to continue good form, Stephen Bunting to impress

There's an Easter treat for fans of all things tungsten as the German Darts Grand Prix returns, with Michael Smith looking to retain his crown among a field that doesn't feature Luke Littler.

While most people will be counting the days until they can open their Easter eggs, die-hard darts fans will be awaiting the return of the European tour, with a stellar field travelling to Munich for the German Darts Grand Prix.

Undoubtedly there'll be less attention on this tournament due to the lack of Belgian Darts Open winner Luke 'The Nuke' Littler, as he failed to make it through the Tour Card qualifying for this event.

All the other major players will still be there including defending champion Michael Smith, who has been inconsistent in recent times but he definitely has the ability to produce a winning performance.

However, it is difficult to see anyone beating world champion Luke Humphries though, as he's been on fire recently.

Humphries, who won this tournament in 2022, has been imperious in March winning in 15 of his last 17 competitive matches at the time of writing, with the only defeats in that run coming against Ryan Searle in the Belgian Open and in the UK Open final against Dimitri Van Den Bergh.

Suggested best bet: Luke Humphries to win the 2024 German Darts Grand Prix

Cool Hand Luke may have had a quiet start to the year, but his opponents will need to be at their best to beat him here, however odds of 10/3 may leave you looking for better value elsewhere and look no further than the scouse darts wizard Stephen Bunting.

The Bullet has become one of the most popular players on tour with fans and his supporters will hope that they'll be going 'Bunting mental' this weekend.

The world number 16 will be looking to build on a brilliant start to the year that has seen him win The Masters, his first major PDC title.

Bunting's odds of 22/1 are very tempting given his form this year and with Planet Sport Bet paying out on four places, punters could very well make a profit on an each-way Bunting bet.

Suggested next best bet: Stephen Bunting each-way in the 2024 German Darts Grand Prix

Another potential each-way outlet is 2018 world champion Rob Cross, Voltage has gone about his business quietly in recent weeks and has climbed his way back up the world rankings to number six.

While he isn't quite rekindling that 2017/18 form, in the last few months he has made it to the semi-finals of the World Championships, the quarter-finals of the UK Open and narrowly lost the final in Belgium to Littler.

Again at 22/1, Cross' odds are tempting given that he's been there or there-abouts in most of the recent tournaments, and will be one of the main contenders should Humphries have a rare off-weekend.
