The PDC European Tour returns this weekend as 48 players head to Germany for the International Darts Open.

Gerwyn Price is the defending champion after beating Michael van Gerwen in the final back in 2023.

The Welshman is in decent form as he prepares to defend his title and remains one of the main contenders according to the bookmakers.

At the start of the month, Price reached the final of week 10 in the Premier League before inevitably losing to Luke Littler.

Just a few days before that, the Iceman reached the semi-finals of the previous European Tour event in Munich. A loss to Luke Humphries denied him a shot at the title.

Speaking of the world champion, Humphries is undoubtedly one of the top contenders to go all the way in Riesa.

Cool Hand Luke won the German Darts Gand Prix at the start of April and backed that up with a run to the final in the recent Players Championship 8 event.

With Humphries in flying form, he is our pick to go all the way – though expect the Englishman to face stiff opposition.

Van Gerwen reached the final of the previous European Tour event and is always a danger.

Danny Noppert won the most recent Players Championship event and is also worth keeping an eye on.

With regards to local contenders, the German fans will be hoping to see the best of Ricardo Pietreczko.

The 29-year-old is the highest ranked German player at the event and he did impress earlier this year when making the semi-finals of the first European Tour event of the season.

Stephen Bunting is a fan favourite and is our dark horse for the event. While the Bullet may not be in the midst of great form, the former Lakeside champion has a propensity to turn on the style when he has a vocal crowd behind him. He'll certainly get that in Germany.
