Nordic Darts Masters news: Fallon Sherrock sets up Michael Smith clash in Copenhagen

Fallon Sherrock powered past Darius Labanauskas in the opening round of the Nordic Darts Masters to set up a showdown with the in-form Michael Smith.

On the first day of action in Copenhagen, all eight PDC stars showed their dominance as they beat their Baltic and Nordic counterparts with relative ease.

Sherrock was one of them as she put her New York disappointment behind her to seal a place in the quarter-final.

The 27-year-old comfortably dispatched Labanauskas, as the 6-1 defeat condemned the 2022 world championship nine-dart hero to an early exit.

Sherrock closed out the win with a 15-dart leg and an impressive 142 checkout.
Next up for the Queen of the Palace is a showdown with US Darts Master champion Michael Smith.
Bully Boy was in similarly good form as he beat Denmark's number one Vladimir Andersen 6-2.
Smith averaged 94, hit four maximums and produced a 101 checkout to seal the final leg with a 12-darter.

Last year's Nordic Darts Masters winner, Michael van Gerwen, put on a clinic against Finnish veteran Marko Kantele as he stormed to a 6-1 win.
The Dutchman hit 157 and 103 checkouts in back-to-back legs, setting up a quarter-final clash with Premier League rival James Wade.
Speaking of the Machine, the Englishman also enjoyed a comfortable start to his campaign as he picked up a 6-3 win over PDC Tour Card holder Madars Razma.
Despite the defeat, the Latvian player did have one moment of magic as he checked out a 154 finish.
The performance of the night though went to world champion Peter Wright. The Scotsman averaged 103 as he whitewashed big stage debutant Matthias Orn Fridriksson.

While the Icelandic player did make history by becoming the first player from his country to feature in a televised PDC event, he was simply blown away by the world number one who converted 55% of his attempts at double.
Wright will now take on Gary Anderson in an all-Scottish affair following his comeback victory over Daniel Larsson.
The Flying Scotsman found himself on the edge of elimination at 5-3 down, but rallied off three consecutive legs to set up a clash with Wright.
Elsewhere, Gerwyn Price and Dimitri Van den Bergh also progressed following wins over Brian Lokken and Danish youngster Benjamin Drue Reus.
