International Darts Open: Michael van Gerwen suffers another setback

Michael van Gerwen remains without a trophy for the season after another early elimination, this time to fellow compatriot Danny Noppert.

Danny Noppert has knocked out Michael van Gerwen to keep the Dutchman waiting for his first title of the season.
The International Darts Open is one of just a few tournaments that MvG has not won and it won't be this year either after a 6-4 defeat to the hands of Noppert.
'The Freeze' - who had an average of 94.7 during the match - now has back-to-back wins over Van Gerwen after a double 12 sealed victory.
"A very frustrating performance, you can't miss 4 darts in a row at a double and I can only blame myself for that," Van Gerwen said on Twitter.
"I will see you all in Exeter on Thursday," he concluded.
Noppert will now place Gerwyn Price next who held his world number one spot with a 6-2 win against Damon Heta.
The 'Iceman' had an average of 102, with the highest checkout of 116 and 37.5% on doubles.
Price missed three successive darts to break but Heta was not able to respond with a 120 checkout and the Welshman hit double one to take a 1-0 lead before winning the next with a double 20.
The third saw Price go 3-0 up with an 87 checkout and at this point of the game, he had an average of 108.
A 60 checkout saw Price go one away at 5-1 before Heta clawed another leg back to make it 5-2.
However, Price landed a double 10 to advance into the next round as well as keep his world ranking intact.
