Darts news: Watch Raymond van Barneveld roll back the years with nine-darter

A 54-year-old Raymond van Barneveld hit the perfect leg of darts in Germany days after revealing he dreams of a Premier League darts return.

Raymond van Barneveld rolled back the years at the weekend's latest Players Championship events by sticking in a classic nine-darter.
The 54-year-old is back out in the PDC circuit after retiring for less than a year in 2020, and showed that he still has the skills by completing a perfect leg of darts.
Barney's nine-darter came in a third-round victory against Adam Hunt at the Players Championship 7 in Niedernhausen, Germany.
It was a traditional nine-darter with two 180s finished with a 141 checkout including a treble 20, treble 19 and double 12 outshot - all taken with Barney's trademark nonchalance.

Van Barneveld later lost out 6-4 to Jose de Sousa in the last 16 of the event, which was eventually won by Gerwyn Price.

The five-time world champion has hit five televised nine-darters in his time including two at the World Darts Championship, and showed that he can still find those nine perfect arrows.
Barney did not get so far in the Sunday event, Players Championship 8, as he was beaten in the second round by Geert de Vos in a tight game that went down to the wire - with the veteran losing 6-5.

Michael van Gerwen went on to win Players Championship 8 as he looks to get right back to the very top of the darts tree, while Barney is still looking to find his old form.

Barney is certainly still a huge draw for darts fans, as he proved at the recent Premier League event in Rotterdam as he got a hero's welcome when stepping up on the stage for an interview on Sky Sports.

He stated there that his dream was to return to the Premier League, and although he needs to find far more consistency down at 56 in the world rankings, his latest nine-darter shows he still has elite level ability in there.
