South Africa vs India second ODI: Tips and suggested bets

India's Arshdeep Singh

Planet Sport presents a series of tips and suggested bets to help you build a cricket betting slip for South Africa vs India.

The Proteas were given their second hiding in as many meetings with India both on this tour and in the ODI format.

It would be difficult for South Africa to bat any worse than they did in the series opening match, when India made the most of the slightest aid to the quick bowlers with the ball doing a bit up front as a result of the 10:00 start.

In Tuesday's encounter there will be an afternoon start for a day-night ODI at St George's Park. While India won their last ODI at St George's Park they have had little success at the venue and once even suffered a shock loss to Kenya at the venue. South Africa have a decent but far from dominant track record at the ground.

South Africa vs India second ODI: Suggested bets

In the midst of a batting collapse at the Wanderers, Andile Phehlukwayo finished as the top scorer, but that is a feat that South Africa will hope he won't repeat, given where he bats and what his ideal role would be.

Tony De Zorzi showed glimpses of the great form that has kept him in the national team conversation, and he might be the batter to watch at St George's Park.

South Africa didn't have much to bowl at but still copped some flak for not being aggressive enough in trying to defend a sub-par score. Without any real pressure, Keshav Maharaj couldn't do what he does best. However, India should not write Maharaj off as a threat, especially at St George's.

Arshdeep Singh has been in great form with the white-ball of late and got his big reward in the first ODI, claiming a five-for while bowling partner Avesh Khan also bagged four. Arshdeep looks likely to threaten the Proteas batting once again in the second match.

Shreyas Iyer only narrowly missed out on ending up as the top scorer in the opening match and will be out to end up on top of the pile when all is said and done.

Predictions

India to hit more fours than South Africa.

Arshdeep Singh to take the most wickets for India.

Tony De Zorzi to top score for South Africa.

Keshav Maharaj to bowl the most maidens in the match.
