India vs England day three: Tips and suggested bets

Joe Root Ashes - Jul 2023

Two days into the series and England already look ripe for the taking, perhaps Planet Sport's picks for day three will brighten your day.

India batting through the second day for the loss of six wickets and the addition of 302 runs has given them a commanding lead and strong position in the match.

England have come to find out that India's batting is deep and filled with form players.

The tourists have put in a tough shift in the field with Joe Root coming up as the surprise pick of the bowlers on day two. Root managed 2 for 77 from 24 overs and removed dangerman Yashasvi Jaiswal.

India already lead by 175 runs and it doesn't look like a declaration will be coming any time soon.

India vs England day three: Tips and suggested bets

India's deep batting might look about to run out but the longer Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja can stay together the more chances they will get to attack.

Both players are approaching milestones in their innings, with Jadeja in line to become the top-scorer in the innings is he can add six runs to his overnight score.

Axar has shown that he can be just as punishing as the swashbuckling Jadeja and England shouldn't underestimate his ability to play a huge knock.

India could see this pairing add 50 or more runs, given how comfortable they both seemed at the crease during a partnership that is already worth 63 runs.

If the overnight pairing are able to get India up to 475 it would secure them a strong position and a tidy payout backing Axar and Jadeja to stay together up to that mark.

Once they are split, India might lose the remaining two wickets relatively quickly, but England shouldn't assume that the tail will meekly surrender.

India look good to score between 480 and 510 in their first innings and to secure an innings win.
