Australia vs Pakistan third Test day three: Tips and suggested bets

Planet Sport offers a handful of suggested bets and tips for day three of the third Test between Australia and Pakistan from the SCG.

Although weather conditions prevented the match from moving forward much on day two Australia should be happy to avoid any significant damage to their top order.

While David Warner was first to go and saw opening partner Usman Khawaja after just being denied a fifty after Aamer Jamal took his appeal upstairs.

Those two big wickets aside, Pakistan didn't look as threatening with the ball in hand as the Australian pace attack did and will need to up the ante if they are to put the hosts on the back foot.

For Austalia, the primary goal is to patiently cut into the Pakistan lead, as the more time they bat, the more the balance of pressure in the match will shift.

Australia vs Pakistan third Test day three: Suggested bets

If the Australian middle order can build on the platform laid by Khawaja and Warner they should be able to get to a total of between 420 and 450 and slip into a sweet spot for punters looking for great value.

After quite a disappointing series, Steve Smith will want to go big and has a great chance to cash in on his homeground.

Smith is at good value to score a hundred and perhaps even go beyond to mass a 150+ innings.

Marnus Labuschagne struggled to get going on day two and might need quite a bit of time to play himself back in when he resumes his knock. Labuschagne also has big innings potential but right now his form suggests he could be the next man out.

With both of the batters out in the middle, fond of shuffling across their stumps, the leg before will very much be in play for the Pakistan bowlers.

Taking leg before for the next wicket to go down could get you into the money thanks tp generous odds.

Predictions

- Australia's total to be between 420 and 450

- Steve Smith to score 150

- Marnus Labuschagne to be the next man out

- Next dismissal to be LBW
