Phil Salt rockets up T20 batting rankings after prolific series against West Indies

England opener Phil Salt has rocketed up to second place in the International Cricket Council's (ICC's) T20 batting rankings after a scintillating series against the West Indies.

Salt has only 21 caps in the format but enjoyed a prolific series in the Caribbean earlier this month, smashing 331 runs in five innings at a punishing strike-rate of 185.95.

He has moved up 18 positions from 20th in the latest update, with 802 points placing him behind India's Suryakumar Yadav.

The 27-year-old was surprisingly overlooked in the recent Indian Premier League (IPL) auction but looks an increasingly attractive option should any franchises be on the lookout for replacement overseas talent.

Captain Jos Buttler sits seventh and Dawid Malan, who may well have played his last international match, drifts to 10th.

In the bowling list, leg-spinner Adil Rashid hangs on to top spot ahead of fellow leg-spinners Rashid Khan and Ravi Bishnoi.
