IPL final: Chennai Super Kings beat Gujarat Titans in final to claim fifth title

The Chennai Super Kings beat the Gujarat Titans by five wickets in Monday's rain-affected Indian Premier League final in Ahmedabad.

The Super Kings claimed a record-equalling fifth IPL title after beating defending champions Gujarat. The Mumbai Indians also have five IPL titles.
The Titans posted a final total of 214 for four in 20 overs after Chennai had won the toss and opted to bowl first.
Number three batsman Sai Sadharsan top-scored for Gujarat with 96 from 47 deliveries, which included eight fours and six sixes.
Sri Lankan fast bowler Matheesha Pathirana took two wickets for Chennai, including the key dismissal of Sadharsan.
Rain reduced Chennai's reply to 15 overs and a 171-run target. Opener Devon Conway's 47 and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja's late-inning cameo ensured triumph for CSK.
Had the match been washed out, after being moved to Monday's reserve day from Sunday, the Titans would have been crowned champions. They had finished ahead of Chennai in the 10-team standings prior to the play-offs.
