Fifth Ashes Test: England v Australia - day five betting tips

Australia's opening partnership batted out a rain-affected fourth day of the final Ashes Test to leave them on 138 for no loss in pursuit of a 384-run target.

England's hopes of securing a series draw in the Ashes took a knock on Sunday as Australia's opening pair held firm.

England to win at 9/4

A century stand between the Aussie openers was not part of Ben Stokes' plans. He will still be confident in his bowling attack to claim 10 wickets despite the limited success in Australia's second innings. The English bowling attack which, has an average age just over 35, will want to convert those years of experience into results.
The forecast for Monday at The Oval suggests rain at some stage. Australia won't mind a draw as they would still win the series. A draw is priced at 7/2.
Australia will still have quite a bit of work to do on day five if they are to chase the win, but they'll be pleased with the platform set by Usman Khawaja and David Warner. Australia are priced at 5/6 to win the Test.

Warner to score over 74.5 at 4/9

Warner has scored his second half-century of the series, which may silence some critics, but would want to carry on where he left off on day four.
It may be a fitting end to a fine career if, in his final Test for England, Stuart Broad were to remove Warner early on the last day. The left-handed batter has 16 runs to play with. Warner will be wary of a bowling line-up that he has struggled against. The odds of Warner scoring under 74.5 runs are 6/4.

Next mode dismissal - caught - at 1/2

Between Warner and Khawaja, they have been dismissed caught eight times this series. All of those catches came behind the wicket.
Bowled at 7/2 also might not be a bad bet because the openers have been dismissed bowled seven times. This makes it their second-highest mode of dismissal in the series.
