WBC president backs Tyson Fury's denial of glove tampering against Deontay Wilder

Deontay Wilder was beaten by Tyson Fury
Accusations of Tyson Fury’s gloves being tampered in his victory over Deontay Wilder have been labelled as “ridiculous” by WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman.
Accusations of Tyson Fury’s gloves being tampered in his victory over Deontay Wilder have been labelled as “ridiculous” by WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman.
Fury - the current WBC, lineal and Ring Magazine champion - responded to claims from Deontay Wilder’s brother Masellos, who questioned the power of the Englishman’s punches against the “Bronze Bomber” in February.
The 31-year-old blasted Wilder out in seven rounds earlier this year to add the only world title to have eluded him in his career.
Addressing the rumours on social media, Fury said: "I've just read an article before saying that I might've had some blunt objects in my gloves? Yeah, two big 19 stone 7 - 275-lbs destroyers in each glove.”
WBC dismisses Wilder allegation
The “Gypsy King” has received the support of Sulaiman though, who attended both dressing rooms before the bout.
"It's difficult to understand; I was present at both fights, I was in the dressing room in both fights, both Wilder and Fury's dressing room," WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman told Sky Sports.
"One [fight] was in California. The other one was in Nevada. In both cases, there were at least three inspectors in each dressing room. I was there before and after the fight. I saw the hand wraps. I saw them with the gloves on. I was in the ring when they came to the ring," the boxing boss asserted.
"At no moment in either fight did I see anything suspicious whatsoever. After the fight, they take off the gloves, and they are handed to the commission.
Should he come through the Alabama heavy-hitter again, Fury is expected to face Anthony Joshua in the first all-British undisputed battle - that’s as long as the latter defeats IBF mandatory challenger Kubrat Pulev.
Promoter Eddie Hearn revealed the pair have in principle agreed a two-fight deal for 2021, leaving Dillian Whyte out of the picture despite being promised a world title shot for the WBC title by February 2021.
