Tyson Fury vs Dillian Whyte news: Fury preparations dented as main sparring partner gets injured

Tyson Fury’s preparations for his fight with Dillian Whyte next month have been dented by an injury to his main sparring partner Jared Anderson.

Jared Anderson, who was himself set to fight on the Fury vs Whyte undercard on April 23 has suffered an unspecified injury and has withdrawn from the bill.

The unbeaten American, nicknamed 'Big Baby' was due to take on journeyman Christian Hammer at Wembley. It was labelled a "step-up" for 22-year-old Anderson, according to promoter Bob Arum.
But injury means the powerful heavyweight will not fight and what's more he will not be able to spar with Fury, despite travelling to the UK last weeked.

"That is correct, he's fighting Christian Hammer. It's a good step up for Jared," Arum said. "He leaves this weekend to go to England to spar with Tyson. Tyson says there's nobody like him for sparring. We look at Jared, without any question, as a future heavyweight champion."

"To all my fans and supporters, I would like to personally apologise because I will no longer be able to fight on the Fury vs. Whyte undercard due to injury," he wrote on Twitter. "I rushed this camp, and now I have to go into hiding. I will be back ten times stronger. Yours truly, The Real Big Baby."
Anderson, who has won all of his fights by knockout, was due to make his UK debut, but more importantly he was seen as Fury's main partner in sparring.

Fury's camp will now have to look elsewhere with his clash with Whyte just a month away.

Anderson was brought into spar Fury in his last two fights with Deontay Wilder and he was seen as the ideal man, due to his height and punching power, to prepare him for Whyte.

Hard to hit, the Ohio-based Anderson describes himself as "Elusive, quick and sharp" and is the same height as Whyte. Hhe was brought in to help Fury work on his speed.

Jared Anderson as a heavyweight prospect

The American though is a more than a decent prospect in his own right and their partnership has benefitted both parties.

Asked if Fury posed the biggest test in his sparring to date, Anderson told Sky Sports two years ago: "Yes definitely. He is the most challenging sparring I've had. He made me think a lot, it was a chess match, tit for tat."

And what's more he is rated very highly by Fury and his team.

"Tyson said that he'd done an interview telling everybody that I am going to be the man," Anderson told Sky Sports.

"He said: 'I really believe that, you are going to take my spot'. He has definitely told me that a few times."
Arum is also sure that Anderson can follow in Fury's giant footsteps.

"Tyson said the next heavyweight champion after him is Jared Anderson," Arum told Sky Sports. "I saw it with my own eyes how Jared gave him fantastic sparring on both [second and third] of the Wilder fights."
