Tony Bellew makes ‘inside five rounds’ KO Conor Benn vs Chris Eubank Jr prediction

Tony Bellew has backed Conor Benn to knock out Chris Eubank Jr “inside five rounds” as he is “too explosive”.

Tony Bellew has backed Conor Benn to knock out Chris Eubank Jr “inside five rounds” as he is “too explosive”.

The Eubank-Benn rivalry was due to be renewed last year but the scheduled bout between the sons of the two British boxing icons was cancelled after Conor Benn tested positive for banned substance clomiphene.

Benn has been battling to clear his name over the past year and he returned to the ring last month as he beat Rodolfo Orozco over ten rounds on a Matchroom card in the United States.

Matchroom chief Eddie Hearn has been stepping up efforts to remake Benn vs Eubank Jr, with it being mentioned that this bout could take place on December 23rd or the start of next year either in a stadium in the United Kingdom or the Middle East.

Former world cruiserweight champion Bellew has backed Benn and Eubank Jr to “sell 100,000” tickets.

“Whenever them two boys come together in a boxing ring they will sell every single seat possible wherever they go,” Bellew said.

“They could sell 100,000. I’m not sure it happens on the 23rd [of December] but I promise you if it does happen on the 23rd there won’t be a spare seat.

“I can’t explain how important history is in the business. If there’s a storyline it’s getting made.”

Bellew has also emphatically backed Benn to stop Eubank Jr “inside five rounds”.

“Conor Benn knocks him out inside five rounds,” Bellew added.

“Too explosive. Too young. Too quick. Inside five rounds, I don’t even question it. That wasn’t Liam Smith in the rematch.”

Eubank Jr meanwhile cannot see the Benn fight happening in December.

“There’s a lot of things that have to be smoothed out before we can announce a date for that fight,” Eubank Jr said.

“Would I like it to happen in December? Sure. But boxing, as you know, there’s a lot of things that have to roll and work for a fight to happen, and it’s not all there yet. We’ll wait to see what happens.”
