Teofimo Lopez vs Jamaine Ortiz: Full card, start time, where to watch the super lightweight showdown

Teofimo Lopez

Big time boxing returns to Las Vegas as Teofimo Lopez defends his WBO super lightweight title against American contender Jamaine Ortiz this Thursday night.

Lopez, who will be making his first defence of the WBO crown, beat Britain’s Josh Taylor last summer to become a two-weight world champion.

That was his third straight victory since his infamous 2021 split decision defeat to George Kambosos Jr back in November 2021.

To this day, that remains the only blemish on the 26-year-old’s stellar professional record.

One man who will be looking to add to that blemish is fellow American Ortiz.

The 27-year-old contender lost a unanimous decision to Vasyl Lomachenko back in October 2022, though he bounced back with a comfortable points win over Antonio Moran a year later.

The biggest win on the Technician’s record came in May 2022 when he defeated Jamel Herring by unanimous decision.

Lopez has also faced his fair share of top names in the sport, though a win in Las Vegas would undoubtedly put him on a path for blockbusters – potentially one with 140lbs champion Devin Haney.

Lopez against Ortiz takes place on Thursday, with the event beginning at 8.30pm ET (1.30am GMT).

Fans in the United States can watch the action unfold on ESPN+ while British boxing fans can follow the fight on Sky Sports.
