Shakiel Thompson vs Gino Kanters full card and where to watch as Sheffield hosts big night of boxing

The Steel City is preparing for a big night of boxing as Shakiel Thompson puts his unbeaten record on the line against Gino Kanters, while Thomas Essomba and Stevi Levy battle for European honours.

Thompson returns to the ring for the first time in almost a year in what promises to be a competitive test against the former European kickboxing champion.

The 26-year-old was last seen in action back in March when picking up a points victory over Robert Talarek in Manchester.

Dr Steel boasts a 10-0 professional record, with six of those successes coming by way of knockout.

Kanters, meanwhile, arrives in South Yorkshire on the back of a majority decision victory against Islam Teffahi last October.

The Dutchman has promised to ‘hurt’ Thompson as he looks to build on his 11-5-3 professional record.

Stevi Levy will be looking to claim the European silver super-bantamweight championship in her bout against Poland’s Dorota Norek.

Levy’s last fight also came against a Polish opponent, though the 30-year-old lost a unanimous decision against the unbeaten Laura Grzyb.

Also on the card, Thomas Essomba will be looking to defend his European bantamweight championship against Elie Konki.

The 36-year-old claimed the title last May with a unanimous decision victory over Alessio Lorusso in Monza, Italy.

Friday’s event in Sheffield takes place at the Canon Medical Arena. Fans can watch the action unfold on talkSPORT’s YouTube channel from 7pm. Below is the full fight card.
