Canelo seeking long-term partnership with Hearn; calls him 'best promoter in the world'

Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez has revealed his intent to work with Matchroom boss Eddie Hearn for a 'very long time' after their first two-fight deal.

Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez has called Eddie Hearn the 'best promoter in the world' and says he is hoping to work with the Matchroom boss for a 'very long time'.
The Mexican ended his historic deal with Oscar De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions in November last year and has since begun working with Hearn.

In December, the pound-for-pound king beat Matchroom-promoted Callum Smith to become the WBA and WBC super middleweight champion.

Speaking about Hearn, Canelo told TV Azteca (via BoxingScene): "The idea is to continue to work with him for a very long time. He is the best promoter in the world, by far.

"I love working with him because he is a promoter who cares about even the little details, which makes everything much better. He never has a problem with his fighters and he listens to the wishes of his fighters.

"It is great to finally work with this type of promoter. It is true we signed a two-fight deal, for February and May [vs. Avni Yildirim and Billy Joe Saunders]. I like this way of working, and Eddie is happy to continue with this too [to work on one and two-fight deals]."

Canelo recorded a brutal victory over Yildirim to set up a highly-anticipated fight with Britain's Saunders later this year.

Canelo Alvarez started working with Eddie Hearn in December and is now hoping to continue their partnership

Saunders, who currently holds the WBO super middleweight strap, is hoping to cause a major upset by handing Canelo just the second defeat of his career.
Whatever the result, Canelo is intent on fighting twice more in 2021 following the Saunders bout.

He continued: "We have already asked [Hearn] to lead the negotiations for our September fight, possibly against [Caleb] Plant, and he has started talks with their team.

"We have discussed the idea of fighting in December too, and in May 2022. The idea [Reynoso and I] have is to keep working with Eddie for my fights."
