Oscar De La Hoya refuses to rule out running for US presidency

"I am actually very, very serious, and I strongly feel that if a Kanye West can do it and announce and maybe tease the world that he would maybe one day wanna run for president, why not me?"

Who remembers the time Oscar De La Hoya spoke his interest in running for president in the United States?
It sounds ludicrous, right? Or does it...

The Golden Boy has no experience in politics but it didn't stop Donald Trump from beating Hilary Clinton to the Oval Office in 2016.

Whether De La Hoya likes the comparison or not, he and President Trump have something in common - they've both been successful in business.

Just look into the deal De La Hoya secured for Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez on DAZN, although it did end in a lawsuit.
During an interview in 2018 with TMZ Sports, the Golden Boy said: "I am actually very, very serious, and I strongly feel that if a Kanye West can do it and announce and maybe tease the world that he would maybe one day wanna run for president, why not me?
"I've had literally, over the years, ever since I became a professional in boxing, I've had millions of people tell me, 'Look, why don't you represent? Why don't you stand up and have a bigger voice?' And obviously, the biggest voice you can have is being president."

De La Hoya returns

At the ripe age of 48, De La Hoya will make his boxing comeback on September 11 against Vitor Belfort.
It is the first time he will lace up a pair of gloves since 2008 when Manny Pacquiao destroyed him inside eight rounds.
While exhibitions are a current trend in the sport, De La Hoya will be fighting as a professional against a former UFC world champion.
The bout will take place at a catchweight of 180lbs at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

On the undercard, MMA legends Tito Ortiz and Anderson Silva will collide while David Haye - a former two-division world champion - makes his comeback and takes on good friend Joe Fournier.

It will be the first fight for Haye since his back-to-back losses against Tony Bellew in 2017 and 2018.
