Tyson Fury is the most popular boxer on social media, claims new study

Tyson Fury is regarded as the best heavyweight in the world following another knockout win over Deontay Wilder in 2021.

Tyson Fury is the most popular boxer on social media, according to a new study.

The data shows that in 2021, Fury generated one million engagements on social media for three potential fights this year. It includes talks for an all-British battle against Dillian Whyte.

Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua is the most in-demand fight to make, according to research provided by Geezers Boxing.

It identified that Fury vs Joshua had the most social media interaction in 2021 with almost 900,000 engagements from 2,134 articles.

The two heavyweight rivals were expected to meet last year only for Joshua to taste a shock defeat against Oleksandr Usyk.

Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk is the second-most anticipated fight of the upcoming year, with 540 engagements per article. Should the pair fight in 2022 for all of the titles, it will see an undisputed champion crowned in the division for the first time since Lennox Lewis in 1999.
Fury - who is riding off another victory against Deontay Wilder from 2021 - is yet to confirm his next opponent despite hoping for a UK return.

Mike Tyson may be heavily linked with a possible exhibition bout against Jake Paul but it's alongside his brother Logan Paul that has been doing the rounds on social media.

It is believed 249 articles were written about the pair, totalling up to 67,000 engagements at an average of 265 per article.
The study also found that Eddie Hall's scheduled bout against Hafthor Bjornsson received 46,686 engagements on 69 articles for a total of 677 per article. Originally planned for last September, the fight is expected to go ahead in the first quarter of 2022.

Elsewhere, Amir Khan's anticipated bout with rival Kell Brook has had 249 articles produced on social media since the fight got confirmed. They will collide on February 19 in front of 20,000 fans at the AO Arena in Manchester, England.

Juan Francisco Estrada vs Roman Gonzalez is the final fight to top the respective list of fights that have captured the imagination of fans on social media. There was an average of 47 engagements from each article written - 109.
