‘Most avoided middleweight in the world’ Aaron McKenna calls out Chris Eubank Jr

Irish middleweight Aaron McKenna called out Chris Eubank Jr following his victory over Mickey Ellison on Saturday night.

The 24-year-old was originally set to take on former British middleweight title contender Linus Udofia, though a late withdrawal during fight week forced a change of opponent.

Despite this, McKenna came away victorious against Ellison and extended his impressive professional record to 18-0, with nine knockouts to his name.

The Silencer has faced a lot of frustrations with opponents in recent times. Last year, Shakiel Thompson pulled out before a bout with McKenna.

The Irishman also claimed that Liam Williams turned down two fight offers.

Speaking after his latest win, McKenna told Sky Sports: “It’s very hard for me to get matched. I think I need to get the top fights now.

“I think I’m the most avoided middleweight in the world. A fighter who’s avoided as he says, Chris Eubank Jr. If he’s struggling to get a fight I’ll step up.

“I’ll skip straight to the world level and repeat history. His father went over there and got beat by an Irishman. Let’s recreate history.”

Chris Eubank Jr was last seen in action back in September, picking up a tenth-round TKO victory over Liam Smith in their much-hyped rematch.

McKenna referenced Chris Eubank Sr and his two bouts in Ireland against Steve Collins.

Eubank lost both of those encounters back in 1995, both for the WBO super-middleweight title.
