Josh Warrington vacates world title, targets Xu Can or Gary Russell Jr. next
Warrington doesn't want another 'snoozefest' against Galahad and instead wants to target the big names in the division, something Hearn has backed despite promoting both of them.
Josh Warrington has vacated his IBF featherweight title after the organisation refused to sanction a proposed unification bout in April.
While Warrington had hoped for a unification against Can or a showdown with WBC titlist Gary Russell Jr in the spring, the IBF has been pushing for the Leeds fighter to face mandatory challenger Kid Galahad once more, something which didn't whet the appetite of Warrington.
A purse bid was set to be held yesterday but the Leeds fighter decided to vacate his title in hope of securing a bout with Can or Russell next. Eddie Hearn revealed his next fight would be for the prestigious Ring Magazine belt.
Update: @J_Warrington vacates IBF World Featherweight Title ahead of his Feb & April fights.
