Jake Paul offers compliments to Tommy Fury as fight moves a step closer

The former Youtuber vs the former reality TV has moved a step closer after Jake Paul said he wants to fight Tommy Fury.

Jake Paul has declared he wants to fight Tommy Fury next after offering the British light heavyweight a series of unexpected compliments.
The pair met last month backstage after Fury appeared on the undercard of the American's fight with former UFC champion Tyron Woodley.
There was a heated exchange between the pair with Paul's entourage almost bundling Fury's team aside.

Fury was heard asking Paul to "take the fight" and to stop running, while Paul claimed that the Brit "could barely be my sparring partner".

That seemed to suggest that a match-up between the YouTuber-turned-boxer and former reality TV star Fury was not on the agenda.

But Paul, who is now 4-0 as a pro, has signalled his intention to fight Fury, 22, with Paul chasing a match-up with a "real boxer".

Paul told the Full Send Podcast: "I wanna fight a real boxer. We'll see what the cards have in store.

"I think Tommy Fury is probably at the top of that list. He's skilled, he's undefeated and he's a real boxer.
"He has four million followers on Instagram, which is good engagement. He has the fans from his relationship thing - they fell in love on a show…
"Tommy Fury - this guy comes from a legendary boxing bloodline.
"He's undefeated and he's the same height as me, same age approximately. And I'm sitting here saying, 'Yo, let's run it up.'"

Warren says Fury will have to improve

Fury's promoter Frank Warren has also confirmed talks are underway.

"For me, it was a matter of capitalising on an event that had a lot of eyeballs to get Daniel (Dubois) a lot of exposure and to obviously get Tommy closer to that Jake Paul fight," Warren wrote in his BT Sport column.

"I've mentioned before, I'm not a fan of this whole YouTube boxing thing but who am I to stop Tommy from earning some serious money for fighting a guy that I think he'll beat?
"That's all set up to happen now if all sides agree so it's down to us now to negotiate.

"We're discussing it at the moment and that's where we're at. Tommy's made it very clear he wants the fight and if Jake wants it, I'll do my very best to deliver that.

"I got Tommy on the card, helped stoke up the card and hopefully we can get it on and make it into a real barnburner. But if Tommy does fight Jake, he's going to have to do better than his last performance."
