  • George Kambosos Jr Backs ‘Explosive’ Gervonta Davis To ‘Have The Edge’ Over Ryan Garcia

George Kambosos Jr backs ‘explosive’ Gervonta Davis to ‘have the edge’ over Ryan Garcia

Former unified world lightweight champion George Kambosos Jr has tipped Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis to beat Ryan Garcia on April 22 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Davis and Garcia are set to face off in April following months of negotiations.

A venue is yet to be confirmed but this is great news as it is truly one of the best fights to make in boxing. The rivals have agreed to battle at a 136lb catchweight.

Kambosos Jr feels that Davis' activity will benefit him heading into his huge fight against Garcia.

"We'll see who is going to be victorious in that fight. I think Tank has the edge. He's been active, and he's explosive, but Ryan is very big, he's rangy, but his footwork isn't the greatest," Kambosos Jr told Fighthype.

"We'll see. It's a great fight, and that's what boxing is about. It's two top guys going at it as well."

Kambosos Jr produced one of the biggest shocks in recent memory after dethroning Teofimo Lopez, but he is coming off back-to-back losses against Devin Haney.

Some regard Haney as the best lightweight in the world and he will likely face Vasyl Lomachenko next in Saudi Arabia on May 20.

Kambosos Jr has rubbished claims that the fight location will benefit Lomachenko as Haney beat him twice in his home country of Australia.
"No, Haney travelled all the way to Australia to fight me twice and fought me in front of 45,000 people. He dealt with that well, and then he came back at the Rod Laver [arena] in front of 13,000 or 14,000 more," Kambosos Jr added.
"Look, I think he's got the leverage to fight wherever he wants to fight. If the money is in Saudi Arabia or the money is in Las Vegas, he deserves to fight wherever he wants to fight, and the money is.
"I don't know if that's what the hold-up is. It's a good fight, and I'm looking forward to it. Like I said, I'll mix it with these guys. I'm looking forward to seeing that fight."
