Exclusive: Boxing duo on a mission to get the nation fit and active

Tailored boxing home workouts to suit all levels of fitness from former boxing champions Johnny Nelson and Spencer Oliver

Johnny Nelson and Spencer Oliver have set out on a joint-venture together in new fitness app BoxPro.
The initiative is to help keep people fit and learn to box. The app, which is free to download from the App Store and Google Play, aims to encourage people from all ages and fitness levels to make the most of accessing home workouts in a time when mental health has never been more important to take care of.
What better way to get fit and to learn some boxing skills in the process?
Nelson made the joint-most world title defences of his WBO crown in the cruiserweight division while Oliver - who won silver at the 1994 Commonwealth Games in Australia - was a former European champion in the pro ranks.
The pair have since gone on to have successful careers in the media. Nelson is one of the familiar faces of Sky Sports and while Oliver contributes to Sky Sports as well as Talk Sport and successful podcast Pound for Pound with Jake Wood.

"We teach you how to box you don't need to know how to box. We teach you to jab, the hooks, the cross, the uppercut, the footwork, everything," Spencer told Planet Sport.

"It's a bit of fun as well - we've got workouts on there as well with celebrities like Wayne Bridge, one with Dan Osbourne, we've got other ones coming up," he added.
"It was actually his idea," Nelson said. When he came up with it I was like, 'are you sure?' It's the best thing we've done, the downloads are mad and it's a free download check it out and take it from there."
"We know that the last year has been tough on many, and the nation's health is at the top of everyone's agenda. Spencer and I both love working out, not just because it helps us keep in shape, but the positive affect it has on our mental wellbeing too," Nelson added in a press release.
"Through BoxPro we wanted to create quality fitness content that empowers the inner champions of everyday people to achieve their health and fitness goals.
"Mindset is the key for us all right now, and BoxPro will give people free access to boxing training content, cardio, warm down's, technique, so that they can build and maintain their fitness in the comfort of their own home", said Nelson.
The app will see new content added each month. Adds Oliver, "We're really excited about the launch of BoxPro.
"Boxing training has so many fitness benefits including improved cardiovascular health, increased hand-eye coordination, better stamina, decreases stress and can improve the quality of your sleep too! We've certainly been put through our paces filming this content!
"We know that people are often quite intimidated about training for the first time. Hopefully, this way, they can build their confidence with Johnny and I in their ear, cheering them on.
"Neither Johnny or I are getting any younger, but working out has always been part of our lives, and we've ensured that BoxPro works for those just starting out their fitness journey, as well as tougher workouts for people who already enjoy training."
