Eddie Hearn defends Anthony Joshua vs Jermaine Franklin ticket sales – ‘we’ll be full on the night’

Matchroom supremo Eddie Hearn has defended the ticket sales for Anthony Joshua vs Jermaine Franklin even though a “couple of thousand” tickets are still available.

Joshua is returning to the ring on April 1 to face Franklin at the O2 Arena in London.

The Brit is coming off two losses against Oleksandr Usyk and was last in the ring last August. Franklin meanwhile heads into next month's fight after losing narrowly on points against Dillian Whyte.

Joshua is a proven pay-per-view attraction and has previously sold out Wembley Stadium and the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.
But with just three weeks to go before fight night against Franklin, there are still "a couple of thousand" tickets up for sale.

Hearn is not concerned about this as he is confident that the O2 Arena will be "completely full on the night".

"We've got a couple of thousand left, we haven't given tickets out yet for the undercard. We'll be completely full on the night," Hearn told iD Boxing.

"At the end of the day, do you want to listen to bullsh*t, or do you want to see a real fighter?
"You'll see Anthony Joshua back in action, with vengeance, at the 02 on April 1st."
Speaking last month, Hearn admitted he was wary that Franklin "looks in better shape" than he did for the Whyte fight.
"I said the [Andy] Ruiz fight was tough, obviously he got stopped, and then there was the [Wladimir] Klitschko fight, but nothing else has been overly taxing for him, so physically he feels great," Hearn said.
"Mentally, I think now he's in a good place. But he loves boxing, he loves competing. When he says, 'Oh yeah, it's the money [Joshua's reason for fighting],' I don't buy that.
"I just think he loves competing, and I think he cares a lot more about legacy than maybe he lets on.
"Of course, he's making a lot of money as well, but I think if he didn't enjoy it or didn't want to do it, he wouldn't bother.
"I think mentally he's in a good place and I think this fight will tell us a lot, because every time he fights, the opponent raises their game. Franklin, already, looks in better shape than for the Dillian Whyte fight."
